Hi Val, There are a number of cheapo hosting providers whose plans include free site building tools, including templates. Some even have free hosting too! I know artists who have used Apple's iWeb to build their personal site. Not so bad, actually, and potentially better than some of those free templates mentioned previously, though not necessarily easier. But when it comes down to it, if the artist wants to make some kind of an income from their art, they would have to get broader exposure for their work. And while it's good for them to have their own site as a personal brochure, chances are it won't get a high level of exposure for them simply because it takes a lot of time and money to build high traffic to one's site — unless they become notorious in some way and get a lot of press coverage. The best and most obvious would be to sign with a reputable and well- connected gallery that actively promotes their client's work to all of their contacts in the art buying world. If the artist is really talented and the gallery is really focused on developing the artist's career, then the sky's the limit as far as what art can sell for. One thing that lesser-known artists can do is create a presence on an art sales site like Etsy.com. At least a site like Etsy.com has high traffic which is what an artist needs to have access to in order to sell their work. And what's good about Etsy.com is that the sales mechanism is already in place and their visitors have money to spend, 30% with incomes between 60-100K and 28% with incomes over $100K. I'm remembering that your question was about site tools, so I'll close here.
