[Hidden-tech] Phone App for Local Sustainable Food Providers

Hey Mary,

This sounds like a cool project.

At GAIA Host we've help several farmer's markets in New England go
digital with online stores combined with at the weekly market pickups by
the customers. The farmers get trained on updating a spreadsheet that
includes data such as quantity available, price, etc and is submitted to
the local manager of the online market that imports it into the store's
database. The managed web application service we offer that runs the
online stores is called Local Foods Anywhere (tm) and though we've got
some small press in the past, we've only quietly marketed it so far.

So the short of it... based on what you are describing below, it sounds
like there could be some synergy in working together.

And the biggest tip is... it's not always so easy getting farmers to
update information like you want to be avaiable in your app.
Integrating into existing work-flows for them or with data available at
places like localharvest.org would be the best way to go.

Feel free to call or email to discuss more.

Regards,
