About the Position

The CIO will provide both vision and leadership for developing information technology initiatives and also direct and be actively involved in the planning and implementation of IT systems, applications and financial reporting, including web-based initiatives, in support of Aspen's national business operations.  Based at the Home Office in West Springfield, the IT Department provides technology infrastructure, as well as application and financial reporting support for close to eighty assets located in twenty-one states.  

Key Responsibilities

-         Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and leading the evaluation, development, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems, applications, and financial reporting across the organization, including web-based initiatives.

-         Develop and maintain appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business.

-         Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures.

-         Coordinate and facilitate communications with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new and existing technology implementations.

-         Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts and pursue master agreements to capitalize on economies of scale.

-         Keep current with the trends and issues in the IT industry, including technologies and prices.  Advise, counsel, and educate management on the competitive or financial impact.

-         Recruit, develop, retain, and supervise IT staff in accordance with budgetary objectives.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have Microsoft experience working in a .Net / C# environment, as well as knowledge and experience with Dell and Cisco. 

      -         Bachelor's degree in computer science or information technology.  Masters degree preferred.

-         A minimum of ten years experience working in information technology including both hardware systems and all aspects of Enterprise software.  

-         Considerable knowledge of management, budgeting, and business office operations.

-         Experience with systems design and development from business requirements and analysis through day-to-day management.

-         Significant recent experience with software development, programming languages and protocols.  .Net / C# experience preferred.

-         Knowledge of and experience in document management systems (including OCR), budgeting systems and financial reporting (such as Business Objects) a plus.

-         Knowledge of SQL 2005/2008 highly desirable.

-         Demonstrated ability to apply IT solutions to business problems and opportunities.

-         In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT.

-         Excellent written and oral communication skills.

-         Strong interpersonal and negotiating skills.

-         Self motivated and directed.

-         Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly way.

-         Ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
