[Hidden-tech] My First CMS Site

Given that choice I went with Joomla and I am happy with the results,
which should go live tomorrow evening at http://amherstballet.org/.

The biggest influence on my choice was the claim that Joomla would
look pretty good out of the box, while Drupal supposedly needs heavy
customization earlier in the game. Both are PHP+MySql systems with
JavaScript optional for fancy front-end effects. Most hosting packages
support this configuration; some provide direct support for either or
both Joomla and Drupal.

.netNuke might appeal to you with your .asp background. I did a little
work with that last year. It is not my style, but you might like it.

Another option is the Apache Lenya project, implemented in Java. I
looked into that briefly but there are no pre-built versions and I
didn't get it to compile and run properly with about 10 minutes of
effort. For heavy duty sites, the Java foundation is probably superior
to the PHP foundation.
