In America, we have so many empty seats travelling around that *their

Ridebuzz.org is a non-profit that offers a free online ride-matching service
that facilitates ridesharing for commuting & one-time trips, as well as free
services for organizations and events of all sizes.  People are posting
trips locally and nationally, and are notified of potential matches through
a private email system, and can follow Ridebuzz's latest ride postings on

 Stats

Passenger Transportation accounts for roughly 25% of both CO2 emissions
(ref. 2), and roughly 25% of household expenditure - which means on average
that a quarter of every dollar is spent on passenger transportation.  Any
course of action that saves consumers money in tough economic times while
reducing green house gas emissions is a positive and much needed solution.
By simply sharing a ride, the cost of vehicle operation and the greenhouse
gas emissions are halved.
