The original posting on this thread is about sites to post and schedule 
your own events,
while the thread as shifted to sites the post local activities.

Related to that, how about about posting this URLs to the HT site - 
there is a a place on the HT site
for resource links in the area - just login to the site and under the 
User menu you will see
'Submit Web link'  - then all these suggestions won't be lost into the 
archives
