[Hidden-tech] Moving hosting but saving e-mail?

Anne,

It is totally possible to do this from a hosting server to hosting 
server level.  You'll need to:

1) Make sure the email service is upgraded at GoDaddy so that IMAP 
service is available, they don't offer it with their cut-rate priced plans.

2) Get the folks you host with to use imapsync on their server to sync 
the mailboxes directly from GoDaddy to their server. (ref: 
http://www.linux-france.org/prj/imapsync/ )

The option of downloading to desktop client software is another way to 
do this, but for a mailbox that might already a huge amount of old mail 
stored will take quite a while for the sync to happen.  The direct 
server to server way is most clean and quick.
