Thanks, so glad to hear you're coming. We decided to feature our out-of-town speakers (Mitch Pirtle, Elin Waring, Rob Schley) at larger slots with less competition, while having our in-town speakers (Barrie North, Barb Ackemann, and me) at a single session slot. Barrie lives in Norwich, VT, and comes down to our Joomla User Group meetings on occasion. As this is our first Joomla Day, we made the conscious decision to keep the meeting small and focused and look for a big success. If all goes well, we'll likely do this again next year on a larger scale, which may include more extensive training. Meanwhile, if you want Joomla training, I would encourage you to check out one of the following: - Joomla Day Las Vegas is coming up at the beginning of April and includes extensive training sessions: http://lasvegas.joomladayusa.org - CMS Expo is in Chicago April 30-May 1 and includes hands-on training for Joomla, Drupal, and Alfresco: <http://www.cmsassociation.com/12.html> http://www.cmsassociation.com/12.html - Steve Burge of Alledia regularly runs training sessions around the country, www.joomlatraining.com - Barrie North has done some training in the Northeast in the past few months. Watch his site for the next round of training: www.compassdesigns.net Finally, the Marlboro College Graduate Center (http://gradcenter.marlboro.edu) will be offering a class starting May 9, 1-4 PM and every other weekend through August, called Marketing 2.0. Barrie and I will be teaching it together. It will feature search engine optimization and social networking, with some hands-on experience within the Joomla environment. This would be the Black Belt Joomla session stretched out over the summer, if you're interested. Thanks, Jen ......................... Jen Kramer McKibben 4Web, Inc. Day New England, May 30, Brattleboro VT Hi Jen Kramer McKibben, Sounds good, I've already registered. I missed the last area Joomla event in Boston back in September, so I'm glad this one is closer and on a good day for me. Only gripe is that the Advanced Templates and the Black Belt sessions are at the same time in the morning. It would be good to have a full day of each, imo. I'm looking forward to meeting Barrie North as I'm on his mailing list and enjoy some of the things his company is doing. Too bad Andrew Eddie is on the other side of the world, as he's been helping me with setting up his excellent JXtended Magazine component -- which ought to be a core component -- and I'd like to meet him one of these days. Thanks for letting HT know about this event. See you at the start of summer.
