It's been years since we had a real 'copy machine' -- we'd had multi-function copier printers for the last 10 years at least, Xerox makes some good ones and our last few have been HP -- I do mean laser not ink jet and not $100-200 machines, our generally last 3-4 years - even color on the last one -- which we rarely use. Be sure you calculate the TOTAL cost including paper, toner, and drums AND Maintenance, every copier needs a service contract if under heavy use. Also, check options -- I have found a good paper feeder and reduction critical -- on the printer/copier, network attachment - not USB make them more useful -- also scanner mode is great. Also, color might not really be necessary - a black/white only unit is a lot more reliable. My experience with when we did have them (pls I work with Yes-inc.org which runs a commercial copy center (http://yes-inc.org/bizcenter/bizcenter.html -- help always wecome) is leasing has a lot of advantages - taxes wise and esp, not having an old box there when you are ready for a newer model. I would strongly advise the printer/copier approach even if a high end unit - if she is repeatedly copying the same material, working from a pdf master - either from a word processing doc -- or scanned in, can make document management a lot easier. It might also be an option to make a good deal with a local copy center (not a chain) if there is really enough volume to guarantee a minimum -- you get extra staff that way also.
