I just went through this with a new client recently. If your "backup" drive is the sole location of your data, then I hate to tell you (or you just found this out), but you in fact are in need of a backup solution. See the online backup discussion that just happened here, lot's of good points made Thanks, Matt Lampiasi ------Original Message------ From: OutForReelFilms Sender: hidden-discuss-bounces at lists.hidden-tech.net To: hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net Subject: [Hidden-tech] Advice needed: Time Capsule crash Sent: Jun 23, 2009 11:39 AM ** Be sure to fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. ** If you did, we all thank you. Hi, I sure would appreciate some advice about my Apple Time Capsule. The Apple Store techs told me that it crashed and it is completely unusable. They are willing to give me a new one since it is under warranty (less than a year old) but I must turn in my old one. They say that my data is not retrievable and there is no need to worry about anyone at the Apple factory accessing my personal information. Can anyone confirm this? And should I go with the Time Capsule again or get a different hard drive back-up system? Are there more reliable external hard drives? And should I have a hard drive to back up my back up? Many thanks in advance to all who are willing to offer their advice and experience. Jaime Jaime Michaels Out! For Reel Film Series P.O.
