Flash is used for much more now then splash pages now. I use Flex to make
all kinds of Flash apps that communicate with middle-tier and streaming
servers, etc. You'll be missing quite a bit of what is available  if you
disable Flash in your browser.
And the www.reelifeproductions.com splash is great! Nothing wrong with that
at all. Great work!
