I have a new Palm Centro from Verizon.  It has the unlimited data plan for the phone- but they
want extra $$ for tethering, and put a 5GB limit on it to boot.

I installed a $29 Palm App: "USB Modem", bought a newer tether cable from Seidio, 
and it works fine tethered (to my Vista laptop) without the extra fee or limits.
Usually get 200-300 kbps.

I imagine if I started pumping tons of data through it, they might notice- but for
6 months I've used it occasionally without problems.
