Okay my friends, here is another "mystery problem" to challenge our collective wisdom, something that the Mac Genius desk in Holyoke tried to fix and failed.

Every once in a while, about once a day, my keypad goes dead, my cursor will not move, and my keys do not type.  I can connect a mouse to the USB port and that works.  The Apple store keep my computer for a week.  I don't think they could replicate the problem, but the upgraded my AOL Desktop browser thinking hat was the problem.  They tested my hardware (keyboard, etc.) and found no problem. Sometimes when the computer goes into automatic screen saver everything locks up, but sometimes I does not.  I don't know if another problem I am having with my modem is related, but at least once a day I have to cut off the power to my modem (Comcast Cable) to reset it because I lose my connection to the internet.  I thought the keypad might be related to static electricity (once I did notice a spark when I touched the computer) but I have turned up the humidity in the house and still get the keypad and keyboard freezes.  Maybe I need an exorcist.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Ciao,
George
