I agree with Chris--head over to the Apple Store (I was just there this
morning, it was empty and there are multiple copies of each model to play
with.) What's important is that it feels right in your hand, and that the
controls are easy for you to use and navigate. (I spent 20 minutes with an
ipod touch that drove me crazy, even though I wanted to like it.)

Having said that, my daughter just got an 8 gb nano that has a built-in
video camera, FM radio, and I think a microphone. Unless you're going to be
downloading video, 8 gb is probably plenty, and the nano uses a flash drive
instead of a hard drive, so it's much more rugged. (plus, the great color
choices).
