And it seems to combine the functionality of MS Word and MS Publisher
(somewhat the way good ol' WordPerfect did) rather than separating those
into two different programs.

One Pages feature I especially like is that if you've inserted a photo, you
can click on it (I think that's right-click with a two-button mouse) and
select an option to automatically downsize the image to an appropriate
resolution for the size of image you've created. (It does the math.)
