[Hidden-tech] Cell phone Choice

I love the Nokia E71. Its keyboard is nice and it can do most things a
laptop can do. With third party software it can file share with PC/Mac,
automatically sync folders between PC/Mac, create wi-fi hotspot. Out of the
box it can get internet radio, had a nice podcast app, full Office
compatibility, GPS (although turn by turn is extra), play Youtube, and most
web pages. With the Slyfire browser you can even watch Hulu and Fancast on
your phone. It has wireless sync (bluetooth) with both PC and Mac. You can
sync a folder in your iTunes library and it automatically syncs your
pictures to iPhoto. This is a great phone.

Keep in mind there are TWO versions on the E71. One called just E71
(unlocked) and the E71X (AT&T) version. The unlocked is much more, BUT you
can choose the $15 per month UNLIMITED DATA plan where as with the AT&T
version you have to choose the PDA plan which is twice as much AND with a 2
year contract. In the end I think the AT&T model might be a few bucks MORE
expensive.

I know you said you are not looking at data plans, but $15/mo is not too
bad. The wifi is great on this thing, BUT you must tern WIFI scanning off
when you are not actively searching for a NEW connection or you¹ll run your
battery down FAST. With heavy use I could get 2 days out of a charge, but I
charge it every night anyway.

Not the perfect phone but pretty close. I¹m a total Mac fanatic, but I think
this beats the iPhone.

Go for it!
