Hi Merlin,

I too work mostly on the Mac platform.

In your message did you mean that the WinRAR process wouldn't run, or  
that the file size wasn't changing? Maybe the file's size is already  
the smallest it can be...

For what it's worth, you must have some placed bitmaps in your  
illustrator file because if it was just vector graphics it wouldn't  
really need compressing, or rather, the file wouldn't have much data  
to compress -- since unlike raster graphics (bitmap) the amount of  
information required by the program to render the image is the bare  
minimum so the file sizes stay much smaller.

Still, I suppose the WinRAR process ought to execute, even if the file  
size may not change much.
