one of the advantages (for me) with mail is the ability to create
folders for whatever categories you wish. so I have folders for
different clients, publications, important information I want to hang
onto, etc. You can create filters inside mail's preferences to
automatically flow the messages into appropriate folders. Depending on
how many messages you get or how far back you need to frequently
reference, you can archive (or rebuild the mailbox--don't forget that
does some compression). Then when you need to find something you have
archived, you can unarchive pretty specifically.
