In the environmental field, 3rd party certification auditors are on the rise. It's like ISO for the natural resource companies - loggers, foresters, wood processors and mills. Companies want to be certified "green", whether through FSC <http://www.fsc.org/> (and for builders, LEED <http://www.usgbc.org/Displaypage.aspx?categoryID=19>) or another standard. As a contract auditor, my main client is the Rainforest Alliance <http://www.rainforest-alliance.org/forestry.cfm?id=certification> - one of the international auditing organizations, but there are a few other. Also, carbon offset markets <http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/127/carbon-boom.html> are the latest and greatest. A whole new way to trade. A whole new market that didn't even exist a few years ago. The Commonwealth of MA was looking for a contractor to establish a state program on par with or participating in (?) the Chicago Climate Exchange <http://www.chicagoclimatex.com/>. I don't remember the details. There are a variety of jobs growing out of this industry sector. Very exciting.
