I can't comment on what Technorati likes (for Google, I'm pretty sure links to your site and words in your posts is what would really matter), but I think the actual readership of the blog needs to be considered. Two things to think about before doing the one-a-day blast: First, it might cause people to have false expectations that it's going to keep up at that frequency indefinitely. Second, it can be nice to have some entries ready as backup. A political blogger who is commenting on what's going on every day in the news may not have to worry, but if the blog is less topical, what happens if there's a writer's block? The hardest part of a blog is keeping it going over the long haul after all your initial ideas are all out there, so having some things "in the can" can be nice. On the other side of the coin, an advantage to several posts to start things off is that someone stumbling on the blog can have some other entries in the archive to look at to get a better idea of if this blogger is really right for them. They'll have to weigh that and see what seems right for them. And while it depends on the kind of blog, I think the most important way to get a readership is probably "word of mouth". Giving insightful comments on other blogs and forums, eventually getting listed on other people's blogrolls, etc. Being in a search engine is good, but being well-respected in a given niche community should be the ultimate goal IMO. Or, do the search engines see that as what once was a prolific blog has now decreased their publishing and they aren't as 'good' anymore? (in which case, slow and steady biweekly posts are the way to go from the outset and forever more).... > Thanks y'all, > Julie > > …Write where you want to go. > Julie Roads * Writing Roads > Copywriting for Web and Print > 413-281-6013 > www.writingroads.com > Blogging Roads > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Hidden-discuss mailing list - home page: http://www.hidden-tech.net > Hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net > > You are receiving this because you are on the Hidden-Tech Discussion list. > If you would like to change your list preferences, Go to the Members > page on the Hidden Tech Web site. > http://www.hidden-tech.net/members >
