[Hidden-tech] Questions about MacBooks

I have the same Macbook specs (2Ghz 2GB Ram) and I absolutely love mine.
It's the best little laptop I have ever owned (and I have had my share).
I got it mainly for Ruby on Rails programming but I also run Adobe
Creative Suite CS3.

Here's what I find: Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks, Illustrator and Bridge
run just fine. Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 is horrible and so slow as to be
unusable (spinning beach ball at every turn). I downgraded to
Dreamweaver 8 and it runs just well enough to be usable. I imagine Adobe
will come out with a patch for Dreamweaver CS3, but until then it's not
worth installing. Everything else that I run works rather well. I don't
have quark installed on it, so I can't speak for it.

As mentioned earlier the screen is quite small for graphics/web work. I
don't use it as my main graphics computer (hard to work on a 12 inch
screen when you're used to 2 24-inch screens!). You can get an mini-DVI
adapter from the Apple store to connect it to a larger LCD screen for
$20. The MacBook will accommodates up to a 24 inch screen.

I should add that prior to this Mac, I was pretty much a resolute PC
user, save for a dumpy B&W G3 we kept in the office. A nice feature of
the Intel Macs is they can be configured to run Windows as well as other
operating systems using either BootCamp (free from Apple) or Parallels
which lets you run multiple operating systems at the same time. I am
using Parallels and have it configured to run Vista, XP, and Ubuntu.
It's a very nice benefit and pretty much makes it the one computer that
runs everything!

Hope this helps.
