[Hidden-tech] Questions about MacBooks

Hi Deb,
I bought this same model for $700 from someone off craigslist. It
worked fine for about 6 months, and then the button on the trackpad
failed -- so a mouse is required. Other than that, I like it. Good
that the model below has 2 gigs of ram. But as a design "workstation"
I question whether you'll find it suitable for your print work. I'm
hoping you just want to have a portable option, and that this
wouldn't be your primary workstation. In my opinion, you'll be able
to get away with working on it, speedwise — since you're used to a G4
— but for myself, the screen is too small for that kind of work, at
least as a primary workstation. You could probably get a refurbished
20" iMac direct from Apple for about that same price (and even
cheaper for the MacBook model you are considering).
Re: CS3 programs, I heard there were some stability issues with the
early releases of CS3 programs but they have that worked out now.
It's native code for the processor, so you will be fine. Especially
considering where you are upgrading from.
Hope this helped,
Kimo
