Verizon currently offers the following speeds for ADSL. We support
all of them

down/up

768Kbps/384Kbps
1.5mbps/768Kbps
3.0mbps/768Kbps
7.1mbps/768Kbps

They can deliver 3.0mbps out to 15k feet now so most people can get
3.0, 1.5 can go 18k feet which is the limit of DSL on the copper
infrastructure due to load coils on the copper at 18k feet.

768k download is actually 864kbps download but there is about 20%
overhead on the circuit due to the use of ATM.

You can get SDSL which is synchronous where the up and download speeds
match. g.SHDSL is 2.3mbps up & down g.SHDSLbiz is 4.6mbps up & down.
It supposed these speeds to about 15k feet. Verizon doesn't
currently offer this service. I could offer it in Springfield,
Northampton & Greenfield if I had enough demand for it.

There is also ADSL2+ which supposed 24mbps down & 2mbps up
