I agree. Many places are charging that much, so they can't be paying their transcribers that much. I also endorse ExpressScribe. It has made my journalistic writing a lot simpler and more accurate. One company would take points off (and money) for almost anything and it seemed to me that by the time the person got paid, they were looking at $15 an hour. After taxes, etc., it didn't seem worth it to me. That's my limited take on it. (I've done lots of ghostwriting and have had to transcribe my own tapes, so I thought I could use this skill to fill up any of my downtime; that's how I became acquainted with what's going on in the transcription field.)
