I run Parallels on my MacBook. Yes, you have to install Windows in order to run Windows programs. If I'm not mistaken in the latest version of Parallels, you can set up applications on your Mac desktop, and when you run the program, it automatically runs via the Windows partition. Right now, if I need to use a Windows app, I fire up Parallels and it turns my Mac into a PC. I've thought about trying some PC games to see how well they work, but I haven't gotten around to it.
