For the techies here - check out Mencoder - this is part of the MPlayer 
project - it is one of the main tools for media
work on Linux - there are windows versions   If you have an current 
linux distro, all you have to do
is yum or apt, up2date  etc to install it.

We are making both flash video and youtube like uploads from the DVI 
videos Carlyn is shooting for http://www.earththrives.com
Gui are great if you want dumb and they are well packaged but for 
repeating of the same task,
nothing beats a command line interface.
