As a LAMP engineer who has recently moved into an environment that is Apple based with Linux Web services, I found it rather comforting to create a terminal window and discover that I could su to root, cd to /etc and.... wow... it all looks sooooo familiar :) On the user and business support fronts, an OS X server appears to hold it's own with Microsoft for file services, workgroups, collaboration, mobile support, print services, etc. Honestly, if it were not for the window mgt buttons being on the left side of the window frame instead of the right, I'd have to ask... what's the big deal. Being left-handed, I'm used to adjusting to the world of feeling that the buttons on something are positioned just a little bit.....ummm... wrong. Apple's UI is a lot better than X in many ways. moral: Embrace the change. I was at the recent Hidden Tech event to design programming for the next year. I know that many technology topics were discussed. Though, I don't remember anyone discussing an event re: switching to Apple from a PC. I recently made the switch to Apple after many, many years of using PCs. I certainly have enjoyed the switch, but I'm often looking online for Apple versions of common PC technologies. There may be other Hidden Tech members considering a switch to Apple or who have recently switched and would be interested in an event to discuss small business technologies available for Apple computers and other switching issues. Don't know anyone specific, but if you go over to Monster.com, all the jobs for the Apple store are listed there--and, of course, at the mall.Go to the Customer Service desk and there's a book that has flyers in it for all the jobs in the mall.
