hey frank, caution is always a good plan...however,

you mentioned: sleek..."at the expense of function"...

even though my ipod's battery is hard to be replaced...it's never been a
problem for me...  I just charge it when it needs to be charged...

so, in my case, i've had an ipod for over three years and it's functioned
flawlessly..i know there are exceptions out there...but in this case,
function was not compromised...

my point in replying is to say...i think apple has does an incredible job at
NOT sacrificing function while providing some of the golsh darn coolest
things to work (and play) with.  the iphone, i think, will prove to be THE
 coolest thing yet.
