[Hidden-tech] Does this sound like a good computer deal?

Hi Amy, et al,

Nice seeing you last night at the chamber thing...

I'm with Tom, I vote Mac -- for so many reasons!

You saw the NY Times botnet article. We're doomed! ;-) I vote we ax
Eastern Europe and Brazil from our Internet! China too!
All kidding aside. It's a serious issue.

I bet your current machine still meets your needs. You didn't mention
why you felt the need to upgrade? It's still a basically a zippy
machine for a writer. If it's performance-related, maybe you need to
do some "housecleaning", i.e., malware or defrag stuff, or adjust
your software firewall settings?

Jim's right about most applications not being able to take advantage
of the dual core capabilities. So, with your Pentium 4 machine,
you're still in a really good place -- again, for a writer.

Get the ram (find out what your max ram capability is to make sure
you're not topped out) from here:
http://www.crucial.com/
Btw, is that Antec a custom-built machine?

How full is your hard drive? If not more than say 80% full, you're
okay for a while. You can get larger capacity hard drives (internal)
for under a $100. I don't have time to help you with all the
diagnostic stuff you might need, but if you bring your box over with
the ram module and the drive, I'll swap in the new module, drive, and
transfer the data if you sing me a song, well, let's make that a
sandwich? lol!

Save your big dollars for a zippy MacBook. You'll love it, you
writer, you! Go demo one at Yes Computers. It's you, baby! You'll be
able to sync it up with your fab new iPhone that you'll get this
summer! And when your daughter graduates and goes to college, you can
video skype with her everyday since it has a built-in iSight camera.

Best,
Kimo
