[Hidden-tech] Taking over for a deceased webmaster

How's that for an eye-catching subject line?

I've been asked to take over updating a Web site for a friend's
father-in-law. The site was maintained by someone else for several years,
but he has died, and the father-in-law doesn't have any of the passwords for
their Web hosting or domain name registration. They want me to manually copy
the site and create a whole new domain name and hosting account, and I'm
willing to do that, but first I'd like to find out if it's possible to
regain control of the existing site. These are extenuating circumstances,
after all.

Does anyone have experience with such a thing? The site is
http://www.healingloveofchrist.com/ , if that helps.

(Interesting story - when my friend first told me about the situation, she
said "The site used to be updated by somebody else, but he's late." I
thought she meant that he was just slow in making the updates, but she meant
"late" as in "the late Gerald Ford.")

Thanks very much -
Anne
