I agree about Macs. I've been using them since 1984 and never had one die on me. As a matter of fact I am freecycling a few older macs, over 10 years old. They all work and most came preinstalled with ethernet and sound. You can pick up used ibooks and mac minis for under $500. They require almost no maintainance and most software problem you can fix.
