I had good luck with the book: Indesign CS2 for Macintosh and Windows (I don't know if they have a CS3 version) Visual Start Guide by Sandee Cohen http://www.peachpit.com If you're familiar with other graphics programs you probably don't have to read the whole thing, which is good because it's 550 pages. Couple hours of review of the graphics, and reading select portions of the book. Consider marking the sections you'll need to flip back to often, with post-its. Keep it by the computer to use as a reference while you are using InDesign. Doing that plus the Help Menu, might be all you need depending on what you're trying to accomplish.
