I had replied earlier - but I by mistake sent it only to Alan

Hi Alan

I find that if you hold down option and then
empty the trash, then usually it will ditch those
files. Also, if you can find the file and "get
info" often you can unlock it in the window that
comes up. If these don't work, sometimes you can
get rid of stuff with more gerryrigging ... but
then is it worth the extra energy? Sometimes I
get those things and eventually they do go away
...

I would suggest that you get an external hard
drive for backup. I think it is risky to have
only one copy of an image I really want - you
never know when things will go wrong. (Yes, I
should back up my website and blog files again
...)

Even a little thumb drive it better than nothing
- but I find them slow for copying to. I suggest
burning to CD or DVD what you know you want to
save, an external hard drive for back up and a
little thumb drive for temporary backup.

Are you on a desktop? If so, I would encourage
you to just get a second (and maybe third) hard
drive now. They aren't that hard to put in -
just scary - and then you have instant backups.
Have 2 extra drives and then you can keep you
main hard drive clearer so you can work more
efficiently.

Alan, give me a call 413.773.7333 if you want to
talk. I am glad to try to help you figure out
what might be most helpful ...
