[Hidden-tech] Health insurance

Jeff,

We have Harvard Pilgrim, and changed our plan in April to have a higher
deductible and lower monthly premiums. That was a mistake, for three
reasons. First, half of whatever extra we would have paid as a premium
would have been deductible (since we're both self-employed), but it's not
when we pay the medical bill directly (since we don't have high enough
medical bills to itemize them); second, just some semi-routine doctors'
office tests quickly used up the deductible; and third, now we have to deal
with very confusing bills and statements that we didn't have to deal with
before.

Next year we're going to change back to our previous plan.

For those who have opted to pay out of pocket for health insurance, has
anyone found a policy where you pay a very high deductible for any
hospitalization so that you can get a lower monthly payment?

If so, who is your insurer?

Jeff
