Health New England. HDHP (High-deductible health plan, HMO). We currently pay $405/month for 2 people. I'm 41, my wife is 48. In-network, $2000/person/year deductible. Out-of-network, $4000/person/year deductible. Hospitalization is subject to the deductible as any other service. Routine office visits are covered; non-routine office visits & ER visits both subject to deductible. No prescription; no dental. No frills! I think this is the least expensive plan HNE currently offers; and they are currently the least expensive of any insurer I've had quoted, including United Healthcare, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts, and BCBS. In order to get this plan our company joined the Associated Industries of Mass. (AIM) which costs $125/year. Last year we had United Healthcare, which offered a similar plan but with $1k/$2k instead of $2k/$4k deductible, and they also had a $100 ER copay after which it was fully covered. But they raised their rates more than 30% so we switched. - Jeremy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff Rutherford" <jeff at trylonsmr.com> To: <hidden-discuss at lists.hidden-tech.net> Sent: Friday, September 01, 2006 2:36 PM Subject: [Hidden-tech] Health insurance ** Be a Good Dobee and help the group, you must be counted to post . ** Fill out the survey/skills inventory in the member's area. For those who have opted to pay out of pocket for health insurance, has anyone found a policy where you pay a very high deductible for any hospitalization so that you can get a lower monthly payment? If so, who is your insurer?
