The MA Business Association gives you access to the Tufts plans at better
rates along with some other options.

The New England Association for the Self-Employed has a few health insurance
options, some as low as 190 per month. Read the contracts and feel free to
give me a call. I learned in one of the hardest ways possible about fine
print, exceptions, and the ins and outs of this interesting system of ours.

This is hard to find in Massachusetts, I believe in part because the
legislature mandates insurance policies cover some items (mental health,
etc).

The best deal I could find was $620/month for catastrophic coverage for
my family with Mid-West National Life.

But be very careful--a friend with the exact same coverage, had a baby
that required a lot of hospital care, and he ended up $250,000 in the
hole. The fine print can be tricky. In retrospect, it would have been a
wise investment to have hired an insurance agent to help me. (My wife
now has a job that provides insurance.)

Good luck,

m
