Similar to Fred's experience, I am quite satisfied with what PayPal's Virtual Terminal provides. Since PayPal is already my payment gateway for my online store, it was a natural extension. All I need is my laptop and an Internet connection and I can take Visa, MC, Amex, and Discover. That said, I feel it is a reasonable small-business solution, but at larger volumes there are likely more cost-effective solutions.
