I have an accountant who, because I'm very low-overhead, is keeping her charges very low also. I still have to do my own general bookkeeping, but just forward her my spreadsheets and she takes care of telling me what I need to pay/not pay. Right now, it's "not pay" because I have alot of job-related travel expenses. My sense is that there's no simple solution and that with being independent and a contractor comes the responsibility of taking care of The Finances as if one was an employer. Technicall, you *are* employing yourself. For me, if I wanted someone who was going to take care of *everything,* I'd get a "day job" again. The bigger problem, though, is medical insurance. The best coverage remains through employers--unless you're independently wealthy. It's horrific that we live in a country where there are so many medical advancements, yet so many people do not have access to them (and I'm talking the middle-class too.) sorry 'bout that little rant...just one of those things :-) Tish --- Jeff Rutherford <jeff at trylonsmr.com> wrote: > ** Be a Good Dobee and help the group, you must > be counted to post . > ** Fill out the survey/skills inventory in the > member's area. > > > Here's a question for everyone. > > Since I absolutely hate having to keep track of > quarterly estimated > taxes (several times I've had to scramble and come > up with large sums to > cover taxes), I'm wondering if a service exists to > deal with this. > > Ideally, what I would like to do is have a service > similar to > Administaff or Paychex where every time I received a > contractor payment > from a client (with no taxes deducted of course), > that I could send the > gross amount to the service and they would deduct > the appropriate > amounts of taxes, FICA, etc., and take care of those > payments so that I > don't have to keep track of those amounts. > > I don't know if something like this exists.
