Northampton takes computers and monitors for a fee at the landfill. I also have researched into this in the past. Nearly all the big manufacturers take (any brand) stuff also for a fee, such as http://www.hp.com/recycle http://www.dell.com/recycle Sort of locally there's a couple listed on my site here: http://florenceit.net/weblinks/community.html Also, I spoke last year with Amy Johns of CET <http://www.cetonline.org/> ( a great local organization with tons of info on recycling) who informed me to be wary of the organizations you may find that will recycle for free as some of them are taking valuable components out and just dumping in Africa. She also gave me the UMASS center's number. I just verified UMASS center doesn't take them anymore and recommend you go to your town recycling. Adding further to Will's comments about it built into the price in Europe: you can buy a prepaid shipping recycling "certificate" with certain places like dell at the time of your purchase if you choose ($25 last I did it a few months ago). Seems to make more sense to bring to a local town or something like the place in Stoughton, MA.
