[Hidden-tech] Music downloads

It's really hard to follow and respect the law when the law is completely
unreasonable.

Copyright law is a really good example. It started out as a reasonable
compromise-- you had 28 years to make money from your intellectual property,
after which it entered the public domain.

Then it got extended to 56 years. Then the creator's lifetime plus 50
years, then plus 70 years...

... and the result is we've not ALMOST NOTHING entering the public domain
these days. If it was still 28 years from creation, you'd be free to
download all that great 60's music (and all that awful 70's music) for free.

We're legislating ourselves to death-- and ruining respect for our legal
system in the process. (Didja know that fornication and adultery are still
both illegal in Massachusetts?)
