[Hidden-tech] looking for recommendations for graphics PC

Hi Reva,

Lot's of good info shared on this topic. I note that you did say "PC"
in your post. Did you mean that as I'm interpreting it -- you're
husband wants to stick with Windows? Lot's of good systems out there
for sure if you want to stick with a PC. You'll need to spend more
time working out your system configuration needs from the photography
perspective and then comparing pricing from various vendors, but I
guess you're accustomed to that since you spec out business PCs.
Others have addressed most of the config things. I'll echo the
basics: fast processor and lots of ram for working with big files.
Good graphics card and quality calibrated display for accurate color.

Ditto what Tom said about Macs. In something as simple as an iMac you
can be up and running right away. Add a second Cinema display for
your palettes or as your primary display (all properly calibrated),
and you're cooking pretty good, bam! (imho) Swap the iMac for a dual-
processor MacPro desktop and you've pretty much got a full-on studio
setup (sans printers/scanners/storage/iPod, et al :-)). Add a MacBook
Pro for location work or client meetings, sweet!

QUESTION: Maybe this is another topic thread -- but -- anybody on the
list have any experience with Apple's "Aperture" -- image editing and
photo workflow software for professional photographers?

Hope this helped.

Happy Holidays!

Kimo
