It's possible that the images (files) are still on your camera's card. If the image files were visible in a Windows operating system, the camera card is probably formatted and used in a way much like the computer's hard drives - in particular, "deleting" them may not erase them completely and you may be able to "undelete" them using standard file recovery software that you would use to rescue files from your hard drive. I have also bought and successfully used some image recovery software for the SmartMedia cards used by my Olympus - it may also be able to work with other types of camera cards. The cards have been "unreadable" by both camera and Windows Explorer, but this software (PhotoRescue - http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/ ) was able to retrieve all of the files. There are several programs out there like this one - I got this one because it had a free trial feature that successfully recovered some prized images and I had no hesitation paying the reasonable price after that! Important (hopefully obvious): don't use your card in any way before trying to recover the files - don't reformat it, erase it, etc.... just leave it alone until you try to recover them. Good luck.
