[Hidden-tech] Basic data entry and analysis recommendations?

Have you tried OpenOffice 2.0, the latest version. All indications are 
that it is very stable.

For what it's worth, I've been known to have glitches with Microsoft 
Office as well, big ones, and the cost differential is about $500. If 
you want the backing of a company, I suggest you purchase StarOffice 8, 
which is a repackaged version of OpenOffice available from Sun for under 
$100.
