[Hidden-tech] Future of Dreamweaver and Flash; Move on Microsoft?

I think that Macromedia will be smart enough to recognize that
Dreamweaver is something of a Best of Breed application (one doesn't see
a whole lot of GoLive training or consulting being offered) and that
they'll want to grow that. I don't know enough about the differences
between the two apps, but they may try to merge a "best of features"
from both into one. Again, if they're smart, they'll kill off their own
competing product and ride the popularity and durability of
Dreamweaver. As for Flash, it too is a Best of Breed and they'd be
smart to let this one thrive as well. Again, merging technologies, but
keeping Macromedia's products intact would be the best option and I
trust that Adobe is smart enough to realize that.

If they recognize the strengths of Macromedia's Web development suite,
then I think it's a pretty good fit as mergers and acquisitions go.
Will it kill competition? Not if they're stepping on Microsoft's toes.
Any strong and cohesive counterbalance to Microsoft is more than
welcome, as far as I'm concerned. I've never seen Adobe as the Dark
Force that some have seen (although I wish Acrobat Pro played well with
others. I've had my issues with that). I think that that this is a
/potentially /good turn of events. Now let's see if they can pull it off.
