[Hidden-tech] Streaming Audio

Ben,

What version Windows are you running? I assume is a Windows Server (2000 or
2003) that you are using....? If you are running IIS on either Windows 2000
or XP Professional, you are already asking for trouble.

Have you checked the server's CPU and network usage while streaming?
Windows Task Manager will give you both these stats in their simplest forms;
Windows Performance Monitor will give you more granular statistics and
record them over time.

Is the server brand-name or "white box"? If brand name, I'd check and
download the most recent version of BIOS firmware from the manufacturer's
web site. If white box....??????

Does the server have a hardware RAID controller? If so, download and
install the most recent RAID controller firmware and driver from the
manufacturer's web site. If you are using software RAID, this could also be
asking for trouble.

I hope these suggestions help.

Best,
Cody Anderson

Does anyone have any suggestions for streaming audio? I am streaming mp3
audio for a client off of a site (http://www.provokeradio.com) using m3u
playlists. The client has said that on multiple occassions she and other
have recieved the messgae, "The server cannot accept any more streaming
connections at this time."

I am personally opposed to doing a streaming solution like real player,
because I have hated it ever since I first used it since the quality has
always seemed pretty poor, and no longer even have it on my computer.

Is there some simple tweak we can do to IIS that will fix this problem?
(Despite being set to unlimited connections and bandwidth, the server is
still choking).

Thanks for any help,
