The Word document format is compatible with both the Mac and PC versions of Word....so in that respect, it's already "Mac compatible".

To save your document to ASCII (plain  text) format, simply open your document, goto the File menu, then Save As, select "MS-DOS text" from the bottom pull-down box, ans save it.  And that's it!
