<div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div>Everybody has a different opinion on Linux distros... it's like picking a Final Four bracket. Robert, when it comes to server implementations, I do feel like I've seen more third-party packages written to run on Ubuntu than Debian. That would be my main reason to lean towards running Ubuntu on the cloud. But that may just be my particular niche (AI/ML/Python stuff). <br><br><br clear="all"></div><div><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div style="color:rgb(34,34,34)"><font face="arial, sans-serif">Tess Gadwa</font></div><div style="color:rgb(34,34,34)"><font face="arial, sans-serif"><br><br></font></div><div><font face="arial, sans-serif" style="color:rgb(34,34,34)">--<br></font><div style="direction:ltr;margin:8px 0px 0px;padding:0px;font-family:"Google Sans",Roboto,RobotoDraft,Helvetica,Arial,sans-serif"><div style="font-stretch:normal;line-height:1.5;font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif;overflow:hidden"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div dir="ltr"><div style="color:rgb(34,34,34)"><font face="arial, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div style="color:rgb(34,34,34)"><font face="arial, sans-serif"> 971.412.2493</font></div><div><a href="https://lotusinsight.co" style="color:rgb(17,85,204)" target="_blank"><font color="#0b5394">https://lotusinsight.co</font></a><font face="arial, sans-serif"><font><font color="#222222"><br></font></font></font><a href="https://www.tessgadwa.com/" style="color:rgb(17,85,204)" target="_blank"><font color="#0b5394">https://www.tessgadwa.com</font></a></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><br></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Sun, Nov 24, 2024 at 6:13 PM Robert Heller via Hidden-discuss <<a href="mailto:hidden-discuss@lists.hidden-tech.net">hidden-discuss@lists.hidden-tech.net</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">RedHat was never really interested in being a "household name", at least in <br>
the sense of the "desktop market". RedHat set its sights on the server and <br>

<br>
Ubuntu is pretty much the opposite (is some ways too much so). Ubuntu is<br>
pretty indifferent as a server -- yes it can be used that way, but it is not<br>
its strong suit. I use base Debian for my VPS now. Actually I use more or less<br>
base Debian on all of my machines (which at this point are all ARM based --<br>
x86_64 systems are just too costly). For a "hard core" Linux user, Ubuntu is<br>
getting too much "like MS-Windows" in some ways. (Maybe a good thing for Linux<br>
newbies, maybe not.)<br>
