I have, in theory, a mesh network. I'm just not sure it's working correctly and don't know how to test it. It uses somewhat old Google devices. It's now configured through the Google Home app somehow. I have a number of devices that just don't seem to work anymore, like our Roomba app. The T-Mobile gateway frequently has issues. If we have to turn it off, we can count on not being able to use it for a week or so. Our solar array won't report anymore. Tried some things like a Powerline adapter which didn't work. Someone who can help me puzzle through all these problems and make things more consistent and reliable in general would be appreciated and I'm happy to pay for the right person.

On Thu, Jan 11, 2024 at 11:41 AM Rich@tnr <rich@tnrglobal.com> wrote:

Mesh is a good idea - I use UniFi - https://ui.com/us/en/wifi
I have about 4 of them spread around the house and garage - they
are tied into my physical network in about 2 spots
Note: I have a group of servers and NAS boxes for the work I do,
so it's probably more than most need.

You'd need a hub from the best working router in your location.
If you get someone to do the wiring, I have a box of at least a
few 100 ft I'd like to pass on
you'd need to add the wire jacks (or get someone to add those) - I
have the tools to do all that.
The wire is a bit old - no idea on the life time - I can say the
runs that came from that box are working fine.
Good luck - Rich
I'm thinking of just spending
the money to do it right.
Ethernet directly to my Mac

Consistent Wifi for certain
other areas like for streaming
content upstairs and
downstairs. Probably would
need a plan and involve
snaking some cable. Do it once
properly and forget it. I need
real network engineering to
get it all right. Part of it
may be that we are using
T-Mobile home internet now.
Connection is spotty

2.5ghz band for our new

have a bunch of devices that
frequently go awry: Ooma IP

Roomba etc.
