<div dir="ltr">The main thing with moving registrars is that it's a hassle. You need to get an EPP code for each domain you want to move and the process takes about a week. It's a lot of manual work on both registrars. My general rule of thumb is never to use your host as a registrar. There are so many bad hosts out there that you often find you just want to rehost. Point the domain to the new host after moving files and database and you are done.<div><br></div><div>It's a bit off topic, but I moved a client from Network Solutions to Dreamhost recently. He was using some shared hosting solution that had basically unlimited file space, which he needed, and was paying an arm and a leg for it. He had a five year contract so he figured the need to hobble through until it ran out. But there were continual issues with timeouts and hosting resources, plus they were painfully behind on keeping the infrastructure upgraded, and one of the last hosts to install PHP 7.2. He wisely chose a Dreamhost VPS account which is still less than half of what he was paying for NS and things run spiffy and fast now. NS is just a really poor host: old infrastructure, bad support and regular nitpicky problems for customers to decipher and work through. Definitely a host to be avoided.</div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Wed, Jun 8, 2022 at 5:37 PM ed--- via Hidden-discuss <<a href="mailto:hidden-discuss@lists.hidden-tech.net">hidden-discuss@lists.hidden-tech.net</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex"><div lang="EN-US" style="overflow-wrap: break-word;"><div class="gmail-m_7178252763974490502WordSection1"><p class="MsoNormal">This is a good thread. <u></u><u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal"><u></u> <u></u></p><p class="MsoNormal">I have NS for business, and have used GoDaddy for a non-profit domain (Berkshires Jazz) for years, and have been shy about saying I have no complaints (other than the constant upsell attempts). Ever since other registrars started popping up, they've been working very hard to keep people paying 3x as much for a domain to no apparent benefit, and then expanding their "services" with the same playbook. I'm very sorry to hear your client had that experience, it's a different version of the same story I've heard many times. Definitely stay away.
