After their utter failure to retrieve any data off my crashed harddrive, and also after waiting two weeks or so to get that answer, I just stood there at the service desk, asked for Mark Weinberg, the owner. When Mark eventually appeared, I told him I wanted my $69. deposit back and that I wasn't leaving until I got it. The check was issued within the hour. I then took my work to Core Solutions down the road on State Street, and they did great, retrieved almost 100% of my data. I told Mark, and his response was disgusting, and I can't even repeat it here. </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444">Then more recently, YES had a friend arrested in their store by the Northampton PD because he was not wearing a mask, and stated he had a medical exemption. He had bought a laptop from them and needed it serviced under their warranty. They refused him service, called the cops, who issued a trespass order. He was brought to the jail, had to pay bail and has a hearing in February.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444">I know, not everyone operates the way I do, but 14 police encounters and 3 trespass orders later since last March, all on account of my non-compliance with the unenforceable illegal mask mandates, I have so far succeeded in no charges sticking and no arrests. The DAs office in the Eastern Hampshire District knows the deal. Several other law enforcement entities do, too. But way too many are still "just doing their job". <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444">So there you go, a two-for in my reply ;-)</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444">Deb </div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:times new roman,serif;font-size:large;color:#444444"><br></div></div><br><div class="gmail_quote"><div dir="ltr" class="gmail_attr">On Thu, Dec 16, 2021 at 1:44 PM Fred Levine via Hidden-discuss <<a href="mailto:hidden-discuss@lists.hidden-tech.net" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">hidden-discuss@lists.hidden-tech.net</a>> wrote:<br></div><blockquote class="gmail_quote" style="margin:0px 0px 0px 0.8ex;border-left:1px solid rgb(204,204,204);padding-left:1ex">

<p class="MsoNormal">I would avoid Yes Computers. I brought my MBP in there when it was acting up. They kept it for a couple of weeks, then said they couldn’t fix it and charged me $80. I finally figured out it was as simple as the version of Outlook I was
running wasn’t compatible with the new OS I had downloaded. Isn’t that something they should be aware of?<u></u><u></u></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12pt;font-family:tahoma,sans-serif">Looking for recommendations for service on a MacBook Pro (Mid-2012) in the Franklin County area. Out of the blue, the screen goes black and it is shutting down, and now I cannot
get it to boot up. It will turn on and shut off within seconds and then it tries restarting over and over again and sometimes gives the prohibited symbol (circle with slash across it). It is acting almost as if it is overheating, but it doesn't seem to be.
Fans working fine and not dusty inside. Swapped out stock HD a year or so ago with SSD and maxed out RAM. Has been running great since then until yesterday. Another note: When I upgraded to the SSD I had installed Big Sur on the machine as well (normally
not supported on a MBP this old). I don't know if that could be part of the issue. Could this be a battery issue? Let me know of any recommendations where I could bring it for service in the area. I know of left-click in Amherst and Yes in Northampton,
but wondering if there is anywhere else. Thanks for any ideas!<u></u><u></u></span></p>
